Gandhi Quote
"I like your Christ, I do not like your Christians. Your Christians are so unlike your Christ.”
I think this quote means that he likes and agrees with the morals and ideas of Christ but he does not like that Christians do not live the same way. i agree with Gandhi many Christians do not live the way that they should they have somewhat veered away from the morals and values.

Today the Suez Canal is controlled by the country of Egypt. Over 19,000 ships use the canal in one year. The canal is very important to todays world because many barges carrying the world supply of oil pass through there every day.
Maji Maji Uprising
The German controlled country of Tanganyika was governed by Karl Peters. He had put a very violent regime into order, taking control over the food production causing 75,000 Africans to die from famine. There was a prophet named Kinjikitile Ngwale who said that there was sacred water that would protect them from German Bullets, this was called Maji Maji. the uprising was not successful but it did force the kaiser to enact reforms.
Economic Imperialism
This is when independent nations were controlled by private business intrests rather than by the government. It was very possible in this type of control that there could by price wars. An example of this type of control would be the dole fruit company in Hawaii.
Pros and Cons
There are pros and cons to imperialism. For the pros it allowed for better healthcare facilities, increased food production, and modern technology. for the cons it forced new religions on the natives, forced some into slavery, and many were shipped to Europe or America to work on plantations.
Germ Theory
Germ theory states that all contagious diseases are caused by microorganisms. This theory wqas developed by Louis Pasteur in 1857. He first discovered it while working on milk pasteurization and alcohol fermentation. He noticed that when heated there was a solid left on the inside of the tank. When put under a microscope he noticed that the solids had living organisms in them. His research lead to the stansard of operation room sterilization and the use of antiseptics during surgery.
Galvanic Batteries
Thomas Edison invented the galvanic battery on november 5, 1872. The galvanic battery was used to convert chemical energy in to electrical energy, the battery is made of copper and zinc plates which when used cause the reaction that turns the chemical enery to electric. This technology at first was not available to the public, and was not until 1905. So when first invented it did not affect the common person.
Introduction Chapter 10 - 11
Imperialism can be explained as empire building. This occurs when one state or country is more powerful than an other. The nations of Europe had become very powerful due to industrialization. they targeted latin America, Asia, and Africa, their countries were not as industrialized(if at all) or they were not developed enough to fend off the large nations of Europe. However Asia did not truely fit this it was far more develped and its population was too large for it to be directly controlled. Racism and Anti-Semitims was a large driving force behind imperialism. in this chapter i hope to show what i have learned through the chapter and hopefully show some new information.
